This training uses blended learning. You will complete online pre-course learning followed by 1 day in-person training at Jennifer Young HQ (Staffordshire)

- The research relating to weight and health
- More about BMI
- The research into the use of auricular acupuncture as a weight management tool
- How to speak with a client about managing their weight (and how not to)
- Preferred methods of measuring weight change
- Expectation management
- Methods to identify the underlying causes of weight change
- The auricular acupuncture points which may support your client as they manage their weight
- Points which may be more specific to your client and their experience of managing weight
- A system of matching the points to the needs of your client
- How to use a decision model to identify the auricular acupuncture points most relevant to your client
You will also have access to
- a consultation card to match this innovative system
- information cards to help your clients to identify and manipulate body acupuncture points, facilitating additional self-care support between treatments
- a suggested clinic programme for you to offer to clients who seek to manage their weight
- marketing words and materials to support your business
- standardised methods of collecting data to show your effectiveness
In person, supported by online learning materials.
You will be given a step by step process to identify the underlying factors relevant to your clients, and the points to match to those factors, allowing you to create a bespoke protocol for your clients.
We will practice the process and protocols during our one day clinic.

In-Person Practical Training
You will required to attend one day in-person training days at JY HQ in rural Staffordshire.
Places are strictly limited.
You will be sent a link to book these dates as soon as you sign up for this qualification.
Case Studies
You may wish to upgrade your qualification to a Postgraduate Diploma upon completion of 5 x 2 case studies.
These are completed independently and assessesed according to the criteria set out in the case study booklet. The booklet is available to you as soon as you sign up for the upgrade.
Please note - you are required to share images of your client and needling at this stage.
Your Diploma is issued when you have successfully completed 10 treatments.
We require you to complete your case studies within 3 months of completing your online learning.

You are able to attend the entry level qualification and the weight management qualification in two consecutive days.
*courses must meet the criteria set out by the Microsystems Acupuncture NOS
Can you do (ear) acupuncture for weight loss?
I am asked this question more than any other and when I say ‘more’ I mean way more. I’ve also had amazing results with auricular acupuncture and weight loss.

Licensing
There is a requirement for UK based acupuncturists to register premises and practitioners with the local authority for the area in which the premises are found.
Please visit your local authority website to see the detail of their requirements and cost. The law governing this requirement relates to health and hygiene which are covered in detail during our qualification.
We foresee no issues with your gaining a licence to practice having completed this qualification. Licensing remains your responsibility and, as all local authorities have different licensing processes and procedures, we are unable to guarantee a successful licensing application.
